Looking for software developer cofounders in the Bonn region.
We're building software that GP practices can plug in to automatically warn patients when heat, UV, pollen or air quality turns dangerous for them: a personalised text, sent in their own doctor's name. We're a four-person pre-seed team out of Bonn, searching for someone who wants to build it with us.
What we're building
One SMS, matched to one patient, signed by their own GP.
Germany's official heat warning covers a whole district at once. A DWD Hitzewarnung fires when a postcode crosses a temperature threshold, blind to who's actually behind any given front door. Monenda narrows that down to the individual patient.
Official data, daily
Heat, UV, pollen and air-quality readings from official data sources, like the DWD's open environmental data.
Matched to a patient's medical history
Checked against each practice's own patient records: diagnoses, heat-critical medication.
One SMS, one patient
Patients at risk from heat stroke, asthma complications, and other risks get a personalised SMS from their GP.

No code yet. That's the opportunity.
Monenda is pre-seed and pre-incorporation: a validated pitch, not a product. The clinical mechanism, the data-protection posture and the go-to-market are worked out. The matching engine, the practice integration and the SMS pipeline haven't been written yet. Join now and you're not inheriting someone else's architecture. You're setting it.
What we offer
- Real equity in a company you help build from scratch
- Full ownership of the architecture, with no legacy code to inherit
- A team of four already building: an MD, a software developer, an ML researcher and a business analyst. You'd make five
Compensation right now is equity, not salary, since there's no funding closed yet.
Monenda is currently an unincorporated pre-seed project. A company and cap table will be formalised before any equity grant. Full legal status in the Impressum.
What you bring
Fullstack, shipped, and ready to get your hands dirty.
Must-have
- Hard-working and enthusiastic, genuinely willing to get your hands dirty. This is a builder role, not an advisory one
- Full-stack experience, comfortable owning a feature end-to-end, frontend to backend to deploy
- At least one project shipped to real users, not just coursework. A link to a deployed app or GitHub is the proof
- Real, sustained time availability. Part-time alongside studies or a job is fine, as long as it's dependable
- Fluent in English, since the team and site run in English
Strongly preferred
- Backend or data-engineering experience, since the product is a rules-based matching engine over structured data. That's real week-one work
- Cloud infrastructure with EU/EEA data-residency awareness
- A security mindset generally, because health data is a high-value target
Nice-to-have
- GDPR or data-protection knowledge, and experience handling sensitive or medical data
- Healthcare data standards or EHR/PVS integration exposure (HL7 FHIR, GDT/LDT)
- SMS or messaging-gateway integration experience
- A life-sciences or medical-informatics background
- Hackathon or startup-building history
- German language skills, a plus for GP-practice-facing work later, though not required
Bonus if the climate-health intersection is something you actually care about, not just a project topic.
The team
We met at a hackathon. We haven't stopped building since.
The team formed at The Future of Health Hackathon at ETH Zürich, hosted by {her} (hercode). What started as a weekend build turned into a shared conviction to keep going. Between the four of us we cover the clinical read, the engineering, and financial oversight sharp enough to survive an audit. Two of us are PhD candidates who work with patient data as part of our day jobs, and we're spread across Germany, Italy and Spain.
